Pest Control & Home Cleaning Before Diwali
Diwali is round the corner. We have often seen people getting Pest Control & Home Cleaning before every Diwali. We sometimes surprise why?
In India People visit each other’s homes during this festive season. No one would prefer to go to a neighbour’s house complete of spiders or a house filled with bed bugs. There is nothing scarier than getting into the rest room that has a cockroach or a lizard staring at you. Imagine you are sitting on a sofa at your friend’s house and you have a feeling that a mouse has just crossed over your foot and is hiding right beneath the sofa. You can’t already sip the tea peacefully and interact typically. Or imagine when you are walking by you hear a creaky sound from the wooden floor which had been half chewed by the termites. But nevertheless we haven’t found strong logic why always before Diwali and not other festivals.
Diwali is famous shortly after the monsoon ends. With all the cool weather and happiness that monsoon brings along, there comes loads of germs, insects and diseases in addition. Also during Diwali, there are large extent preparations of delicacies and that invites lots of pests. While we enjoy it as “Festival” the pests equally enjoy it as their “Pestival”. So in fact all those health risks that are brought by monsoon are neutralized with our age old traditions of thorough Pest Control & cleaning of homes.
Often people get surprised when I say pest control along with cleaning has been the tradition since ancient times. They ask – “Are you serious”? Cleaning I understand but how on the earth they got pest control sets in olden times? It’s an amazing fact that every Hindu tradition has valid scientific & logical reason behind it.
Well! The ancient Indian practice of applying a thin paste made of cowdung, Gangajal, clay and cow urine, served as a disinfectant, and “ecosystem Friendly Pesticide”. This was a very scientific way of pest control because the cow dung has bacteriophage a virus that infects and replicates within a bacterium. FAO and many other reputed global institutions have recognized the ancient Indian practice. Search on Google and Wikipedia and you will find abundant proof.
How to go about Pest Control?
Pest Control makes sure all the germs and infestation that monsoons brought with them get eradicated. Cleaning along with painting and polishing ensure that there are no fractures and crevices left on the wall and furniture to allow them to copy, shelter and multiply further.
1. What If only cleaning is done and Pest Control sets left?
Effective Pest Control requires lots of trained mind, experience and resources to tackle them. As you know pests also have brains and they are clever and smart. You may clean physical dirt but pests will closest get into hiding in fractures and crevices. And the next day, you will again find their droppings, hairs, grease marks etc. So, just cleaning and avoiding Pest Control would be a big mistake.
2. What if Pest Control is done but Cleaning not done?
A specialized cleaning includes removal of not just dust particles but cleaning of grease and slime material, food residues, pest droppings, clogged drainage etc. It is important that pest do not find their food and water. A clean house is truly a hostile condition for pests. Nobody whether human or pest wants to arrive as guest to a hostile ecosystem. If they do not find entry door, food and shelter then surely at such place they would not like to stay. Further breeding of pest is also not possible in such a hostile condition.
